News! N6PSE planning YI9PSE DXpedition to Iraq.
N6PSE has been issued the call sign of YI9PSE by the Iraqi Ministry of Telecom, and is planning a DXpedition to Northern Iraq (Kurdistan) for April of 2010.
Preliminary details:
Plans: Eleven person DXpedition to Erbil Iraq.
When: Ten day DXpedition in early April 2010.
With: 5 station, all band, all mode DXpedition, using Yagi/vertical/dipole antennas.
Where: Erbil Iraq is a safe/friendly city in Northern Kurdistan (near Turkey). More info below.
Sponsors: SteppIR Antennas, Elecraft Radios, Flex Radio, The DXstore.com.
Why: Many West Coast US, KH6, ZL, VK and JA amateurs are unable to work the few 100 watt dipole limited US soldier stations. This will be a QRO with gain antenna operation, targeting these areas in particular. We will also focus our efforts on 80/160 meters for everyone.
Equipment: We are hoping to obtain Elecraft K3's and a FLEX 3000 radio, 2 element SteppIR yagis or Hexbeams. Amplifiers tbd.
