Hello from Paul N6PSE & SU9/N6PSE
I operate from San Jose, Northern California. I am a life long northern California resident. I am a member of AMSAT, The Northern California DX Foundation, the Northern California DX Club and a Life member of both the ARRL and INDEXA.
I work in the Information Technology industry here in Silicon Valley.
I am very active on SSB 10, 15, 17 and 20 meters. I really enjoy chasing new DXCC entities.
In addition to operating as N6PSE, I have operated from the following entities: The UK, Italy, France, Alaska, Hawaii, BVI, US Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Barbados, Grand Cayman, Mexico, Italy, Turkey, Egypt, Dodacanese (Rhodes) Greece, Japan and Vietnam.
My next DXpedition will be to Vietnam, Cambodia or Laos in 2010.
My station consists of two operating positions. Position 1 is an Icom IC-7800, Alpha 9500 Amplifier, Alpha 4520 wattmeter, the mic is a Heil PR-780 on a Heil boom. I process my audio with a W2IHY 8 band audio equalizer and noise gate. Position #2 is a Yaesu FT1000MP with the Yaesu Quadra VL1000 Amp,the mic is a Yaesu MD200. My main antenna is a three element SteppIR yagi antenna atop my US Tower MA-550MDP, 60 feet above the ground. In addition, I use a Alpha-Delta 40/80 dipole for those bands.
For Satellite and local communications, I also operate an ICOM IC-910H, a pair of rack mounted Icom IC-970As and a Yaesu FT847 for local communications, primarily on 146.520 (FM)or 50.125 mhz, (SSB)
I monitor 1287.7 FM, 146.52FM and 50.125 USB almost all the time when I am in my radio room. A web cam on this page will be coming soon!
I'm active on APRS with my Kenwood D700, Dell laptop running UI-View32 and Precision Mapping 6.0
I also monitor local weather conditions with my Davis Instruments Vantage Pro 2 and Peet Brothers weather stations. I monitor regional weather radar with my SwiftWX Professional 2.7 software on a dedicated laptop.
For mobile operating, I use a Yaesu FT8900 and a FT857D in the Ford F250 mobile with the ATAS 120 mobile antenna. I run an Icom IC-208H in the Honda Civic Hybrid.
In my spare time I like to tinker with and drive my 1924 Brockway LaFrance Torpedo-Chemical Fire Truck. She is a beauty!
My hobbies are ham radio, SCUBA diving and collecting antique fire trucks and equipment. I also volunteer my services in the areas of Communications & Logistics to the Doctors Without Borders organization.
I look forward to working you and exchanging QSL cards.
